Apply for Teacher Training Service
We offer provider led training places through the Northampton Teacher Training Partnership and School Direct training places through Northampton School for Boys. Both routes lead to the same qualification which also includes a university validated Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
Applications must be made through the new Apply service at www.gov.uk/apply-for-teacher-training.
Fundamental English and Mathematics Proficiencies
The DfE has confirmed that applicants to teacher training programmes no longer need to pass the professional skills tests as a requirement of entry. These tests will be replaced with a new provider-led assurance of fundamental English and Mathematics. Under the new approach, ITT providers are expected to make an assessment of a candidate’s English and Mathematics knowledge before Qualified Teacher Status can be awarded. ITT providers must assure themselves that trainees have these skills. This we do both during the selection process and across the year, during the training programme.
